Currently, approximately 19% of all registered voters in New Mexico are Declined to State with their registration. That means that more than 230,000 voters are not able to participate in Primary Elections because they have not formally allied themselves with a political party. We need to focus on including more people in the political process and making sure that every voice is heard. Many New Mexicans take great pride in their independence and open mindedness when it comes to choosing their elected officials and we should not punish them for that.
Where I stand:
I support all New Mexicans having a chance to participate in our Primary Elections because the more people that are engaged, the better policy we can create.
